Understanding layers in Photoshop..
Like many of you..I like to make adjustments to my digi photos to "pretty" them up..and like many of you..using layers in Photoshop is a little intimidating until you get the hang of them.
Why do we use layers? By using layers, we can avoid making changes to the original photo..so we preserve the original , "just in case.."
Here is an excellent article explaining layers..when to use them..which ones to use..Helped me a lot..hope it helps you!!
Here is a couple of examples of what you can actually do with layers!! This picture was taken at Riverbend Farm in Uxbridge, MA on the Blackstone River. I love this spot as there are tons of turtles hanging out and you can easily slide your kayaks into the water and paddle around. PLUS!! It is a great picture spot..
My original photo is kind of dull...and if you notice, there are two kayakers...
My "revised" photograph (save your original!!)..is brighter, but I have also deleted a kayaker, some branches and added blue skies around the original kayaker.. Once you get the hang of this..it is fun and addictive!
